Biography

Pacific Pathology Associates, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice, is pleased to include Pamela Smith, M.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Smith has extensive hospital and professional experience with an impressive academic background.

Dr. Smith graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She received her medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Smith went on to serve a five-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon during which she served as chief resident. While there, she subsequently completed both a surgical pathology fellowship and a hematology fellowship.

Since finishing her postgraduate training, Dr. Smith has worked for Pacific Pathology Associates, starting in 2005, where she has also served as director of flow cytometry and director of hematology and body fluids. During this time, she has worked concurrently as medical director for Willamette Valley Medical Center, and has had additional staff privileges at hospitals across Oregon, including Salem Hospital, Santiam Hospital, Silverton Hospital and West Valley Hospital.

Dr. Smith belongs to several professional medical organizations, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the College of American Pathologists; for the latter, she acted as CAP Inspection team leader. She holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and hematology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Smith has authored and coauthored five peer-reviewed medical manuscripts and has presented at a number of scientific meetings and symposiums.
